01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Dan dan noodles are a good choice when you’re in the mood for chewy noodles in a gently spicy broth. Diners who tried them at lunch have praised the texture of the noodles and the flavour of the soup. The menu also includes gomoku tanmen and hot-and-sour noodles, so you can choose between a spicy bowl and noodles in broth with plenty of toppings.

One diner who ordered the gomoku soba described a rich soy-based sauce, generous toppings and a lightly thickened broth that clung well to the fine noodles. They were also able to order it à la carte in the evening, making it an option beyond the set meals. Other gomoku dishes include gomoku tanmen, gomoku ankake yakisoba and gomoku okoge. Choose from noodles in broth, savoury fried noodles or a rice dish.

Beyond noodles, diners have ordered sweet-and-sour pork, tomato and egg stir-fry, and pork liver with bean sprouts. One person who had the sweet-and-sour pork as a set meal said the tangy sauce and generously cut vegetables made it satisfying. Some diners come for lunch sets, while in the evening you can also put together a meal from several small plates. One diner who tried the evening drinks set chose three appetisers, along with xiao long bao and seafood spring rolls.

Toen serves from lunchtime into the evening, with opening hours every day from 11:00 until 0:00 the following day. If you’re eating late, you can choose from à la carte dishes including dan dan noodles and gomoku soba.
